Hermann Heykamp

Hermann Heykamp , latinized Hermannus Heykamp (* December 5, 1804 in Utrecht ; † October 28, 1874 in Rotterdam ) was the Old Catholic Bishop of Deventer from 1853 to 1874 .

Life

He was born as the son of Johannes Heykamp and Gertrudis. van Ingen born. From September 1, 1821, he attended the seminary in Amersfoort . He was ordained a priest on January 18, 1829. He worked in Leiden (1829 to 1855), Delft (until 1849) and Rotterdam. In September 1849 he was canon of the metropolitan chapter and on May 8, 1860 archpriest ( dean ) for Schieland and South Holland .

On April 12, 1853 he was appointed bishop of Deventer, received on 17 July 1853 in Rotterdam , the episcopal ordination by Archbishop Johannes van Santen .

His nephew was the future Archbishop of Utrecht Johannes Heykamp (1824-1892).
