Cornelius Diependaal , actually Cornelis Diependaal (born October 26, 1829 in Egmond aan Zee , † November 22, 1893 in Schiedam ) was an old Catholic bishop of Deventer from 1875 to 1893 .

Life

He was born the son of Adelbertus Diependaal and Agatha Bruinenberg. From September 1, 1843, he attended the seminary in Amersfoort . He was ordained a priest on March 7, 1857 by the Bishop of Haarlem , Henricus van Buul . As a pastor he worked in Den Helder (1860 to 1875) and in Schiedam (1875 to 1893).

The Metropolitan Chapter of Utrecht elected him Archbishop of the Old Catholic Archdiocese of Utrecht on February 5, 1874 , but on February 18, 1874 he gratefully declined this election.

On June 30, 1875 he was appointed Bishop of Deventer and, after acceptance, received the episcopal ordination of Archbishop Johannes Heykamp on November 17, 1875 in Rotterdam with the assistance of Bishops Casparus Johannes Rinkel and Joseph Hubert Reinkens . In September 1880 he was canon of the Metropolitan Chapter and on February 18, 1884 archpriest ( dean ) for Schieland and South Holland .

He was a co-signer of the Utrecht Declaration of September 24, 1889.
