Hermann Hiltbrunner (born November 24, 1893 in Biel-Benken , Switzerland ; † May 11, 1961 in Uerikon ) was a Swiss writer who published mainly poetry as well as nature and travel descriptions.

Life

Hermann Hiltbrunner worked briefly as a primary school teacher and then studied natural sciences, philosophy and German in Bern and Zurich . After obtaining his secondary education certificate , he lived in Germany and France, and traveled to North Africa and Scandinavia, among other places. Here he was looking for Knut Hamsun in 1921 , from whom he translated poems and the novel The Last Chapter .

From 1935 Hiltbrunner lived as a freelance writer in Uerikon near Stäfa on Lake Zurich . Of around 3,000 poems written, he published a good half in 23 volumes of poetry.

His estate is in the Swiss Literary Archives in Bern.
