Hermann Jensen Bohn (* 1672 in Rønne ; † July 6, 1743 in Reval ) was a Russian lieutenant general and governor general of Livonia .

Life

Hermann Jensen Bohn came from Danish families. His parents were the businessman Jens Hansen Stuve (1626–1677) and Barbra Hermansdatter, née Bohn. In 1722 he married Catharina, née Reutern (1679–1746), widow of Hermann von Brevern .

Bohn completed an engineering training in Copenhagen and then worked as a subconductor from 1697 . In 1699 he entered the military. In 1702 he became an adjutant in the Danish auxiliary corps in Italy and Hungary and worked as a cartographer. In 1705 Bohn was promoted to lieutenant. In 1708 he was recruited from Vienna for the Russian service and appointed General Quartermaster by Peter I. In this capacity he took part in the Battle of Poltava and in 1711 in the Prut campaign. In 1711/12 he was in command of his own infantry regiment. In 1718 he became lieutenant general. In 1726/27 he was temporarily governor general of Livonia. In 1727 he served as President of the War College .
