Hermann Meyer-Hartmann

Hermann Meyer-Hartmann , CBE (born February 4, 1929 in Braunschweig ; † March 18, 2020 ) was a German journalist and publicist .

Life

Hermann Meyer-Hartmann was drafted into the Reich Labor Service at the age of 15 . After his release from British captivity in May 1945, he worked as an interpreter for the British troops in Hildesheim . He later worked for various local newspapers in Hildesheim, Göttingen and Delmenhorst. Subsequently, he was the head of the business department of the world . From 1966 to 1972 he was press officer and federal managing director of the Federation of Taxpayers and from 1975 to 1994 editor-in-chief and editorial director of the Hildesheimer Allgemeine Zeitung .

Meyer-Hartmann published several books relating to the place and the Hildesheim region, such as the history of the Hildesheim garrison , the Hildesheim air base and the bombing of Hildesheim during World War II, as well as two illustrated books with aerial photographs.

He was married and had one daughter.
