Hermann Rübesamen (born April 26, 1892 in Frankenhausen ; † July 7, 1916 at Caboiselle) was a German chess composer .

Chess composition

Rübesamen published his first tasks at the age of 15. As a high school student and in the early years of his studies, he composed most of the assignments. About 50 compositions by him are known. In 1911, 36 of his compositions appeared in the Festschrift to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Munich Academic Chess Club, of which he was listed as a corresponding member.

Rübesamen gave a clear definition of the Roman idea , created the expression surface orbital and attached great importance to the purity of the idea. He is considered one of the pioneers of the new German school of chess composition. In addition to orthodox mating tasks, he also composed self-mating and a number of studies.

Life

Rübesamen attended pre-school from 1898 to 1902 and then until 1910 the grammar school in Rudolstadt , where his father was employed as a senior teacher. His maternal grandfather, Henneberg, also lived in Rudolstadt, who instructed him to play chess at an early age, composed chess puzzles himself and created a handwritten collection mainly with tasks from Bayer , Nowotny , Plachutta , Willmers, Capraez, Campell and Healey .

From 1910 to 1914 Hermann Rübesamen studied one semester in Strasbourg , two at the Dresden Technical University and five in Halle. In February 1914 he passed his state examinations in physics , chemistry , geography , propaedeutics and mathematics . He came to Weißenfels as a test candidate . After completing the Rigorosum on December 10, 1914, Rübesamen received his doctorate in philosophy (Dr. phil.) On May 29, 1915 with the subject of reception disorders and electrical-meteorological elements of the atmosphere in Halle (Saale ).

As early as 1915 he entered as a war volunteer, became a non-commissioned officer in the same year and died in the First World War in the Battle of the Somme near Caboiselle.
