Hermann Wachmann , also Harmen Wachmann , (* 1579 ; † 1658 ) was councilor and mayor in Bremen .

Life

Wachmann came from a rural family. His father Johann Wachmann (1547-1616) had been a member of the Bremen council since 1603 . Hermann Wachmann probably attended the Latin school , which later became the grammar school, in Bremen. He learned the trade of a businessman and went on numerous trips as such. Among other things, it took him to Hamburg , Rostock , Göttingen , Danzig , Braunschweig , Einbeck and Hanover . He often used the waterway on the Weser . His son Johann Wachmann the Younger reports in his notes from a diary he continued , in which Hermann Wachmann gave a brief account of these trips without anecdotal details. Travel events, incidents in the family and historical events, but no special experiences, were written down in chronological order. In 1622 he became the merchant's parent . In the same year member of the Bremen Council. From 1632 to 1654 he held the office of Mayor of Bremen. In addition, he was head of the St. Remberti monastery .

His brother was Johann Wachmann the Elder .
