Hermann Wehrenfennig

Karl Hermann Wehrenfennig (born May 28, 1822 in Bad Goisern , † February 10, 1881 in Vienna ; also Hermann Wehrenpfennig ) was an Austrian architect .

Life

Hermann Wehrenfennig studied from 1837 to 1842 at the Polytechnic Institute in Vienna, now the Technical University of Vienna, and then for a year at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna with Pietro Nobile . In 1843 he became an intern at the kk building management; from 1853 he was assistant 1st class in the construction department of the Ministry of Commerce and around 1876 became chief engineer in the construction department of the ministry.

Realizations

Wehrenfennig mainly worked as a civil servant architect. In addition, as a "private architect" he built several tenement houses and the Villa Klusemann in Gmunden (1873) in Vienna's 1st district .

He planned the Protestant churches in Gosau , Gmunden and Vöcklabruck .

Hermann Wehrenfennig came from the pastor family Wehrenfennig , whose offspring worked from Regensburg in the Gosau valley at the end of the 18th century . His father, Johann Theodor Wehrenfennig (1794-1856), was pastor of Schladming from 1816 and of Goisern from 1820. From 1854 to 1856 he was Superintendent of the Superintendenz AB Upper Austria. His grandfather was Johann Georg Overbeck , senior of the Evangelical Churches in Upper Austria, from a well-known Lübeck family.
