Hermann Werner Peters

Hermann Werner Peters (born March 27, 1931 in Lüneburg ; died March 18, 1984 in Karlsruhe ) was a German writer, best known as the author of notebook novels , especially science fiction . He wrote under numerous pseudonyms , including Staff Caine, John Curtis, R. Gordon, Jeff Mescalero, Neil Porter and Bert Stranger, and under the publishing pseudonyms Jerry Cotton , GW Jones and Ted Scott .

Life

Peters grew up in Heide in Holstein , where he also attended high school. He was interested in astronomy and science fiction already at school . From about 1970 to 1976 he worked as an editor for the Bastei publishing house , where he also supervised the crime series Jerry Cotton .

In 1962 he began to write booklet novels for the science fiction series Mark Powers , later he was involved in the series Ren Dhark and Spaceship Promet , thus in all well-known attempts to compete with the best-known German SF series Perry Rhodan . In addition to science fiction, he also wrote crime novels, including for the series of Fledermaus crime novels .

When the series Sea Wolves - Corsairs of the Oceans was started in 1975 , he was one of the authors from the beginning and wrote over 30 novels for the series between 1975 and 1983 under the pseudonym John Curtis. Until his death he wrote synopsis for the Seewolfe paperback series with Manfred Wegener .

Peters died in 1984 at the age of 52.
