After graduating from high school, Hermann Winterling studied economics at the University of Munich from 1925 to 1929 . Then he joined his uncle's porcelain factory, Heinrich Winterling in Marktleuthen. With his death in 1930 he received individual power of attorney and worked in the Marktleuthen factory until 1946. After the death of his uncle Ferdinand Winterling in 1967, Hermann Winterling took the helm of the family company. In 1983/84 he resigned from the management of the various locations, but remained active in an advisory capacity in Röslau and the Schaller factories until 1988.
