Hermann Ziebland (born April 18, 1853 in Veitshöchheim near Würzburg , † September 30, 1896 in Munich ) was a German portrait and genre painter .

Life

Ziebland was the son of an inspector and engineer and a great-nephew of the architect and builder Georg Friedrich Ziebland . He first attended Latin school and a grammar school and studied from 1870 to 1874 at the School of Applied Arts and then from February 21, 1874 at the Royal Academy of Arts in Munich with Ludwig von Löfftz , Wilhelm Diez and Wilhelm Lindenschmit the Younger .

He went on study trips to Italy . He showed his works at art exhibitions in Dresden and Munich. The reproductions of his pictures appeared in illustrated magazines such as Universum. Illustrated magazine for the German family . Among his students was Rudolf Wimmer .

Ziebland died at the age of 43 after a long illness and was buried in the Old Southern Cemetery in Munich.
