Hermann von Dorne (* 1535 in Lübeck ; † April 2, 1594 ibid) was mayor of the Hanseatic city of Lübeck.

Life

Hermann von Dorne came from the Lübeck councilor family von Dorne and was the son of the councilor of the same name, Hermann von Dorne . He was elected to the city council in 1570 and represented the city in 1571 as their envoy to Sweden with the aim of King John III. to obtain confirmation of the Peace of Szczecin and the Lübeck trade privileges enshrined in it. In 1575 and 1577 he negotiated at the Danish court of King Frederick II in Copenhagen about the sound tariff . In 1579 he was appointed mayor in the council and concluded a settlement in Lüneburg about the Eßlinger customs , which Lübeck and Hamburg levied at the Zollenspieker ferry house as Elbe customs since the capture of Bergedorf in 1420 . In 1585 he was the city's ambassador to Queen Elizabeth I of England.

Hermann von Dorne was one of the previous owners of today's Buddenbrookhaus in Mengstrasse 4 in Lübeck's old town. His epitaph hangs in the Marienkirche in Lübeck . His son Hermann von Dorne also became a councilor in Lübeck.
