Hermsdorf is a district of the municipality of Zettlitz in the district of central Saxony .

The square village Hermsdorf with its Gelänge - Waldhufen -Mischflur is located on a hill about 1.5 km northwest of the town of Geringswalde in the central Saxon loess hill country . The village, which was formerly part of the Schönburg dominion, was under the Rochlitz office until the middle of the 19th century , then under the Geringswalde court office. In 1875 it came to the Rochlitz district administration , in 1952 to the Rochlitz district , with which it was incorporated into the Mittweida district in 1994 and the central Saxony district in 2008. The monastery of Geringswalde exercised the manorial rule until 1587. In 1764 Hermsdorf is referred to as an administrative village .

The church was named as a parish church as early as 1540 and became a subsidiary church of Zettlitz in 1928 . Hermsdorf has been part of the Geringswalde parish since 2001.

In 1489 the place was named as Hermisdorff . The place name was retained except for spelling variants, only from the end of the 18th century to the middle of the 19th century the village was called Hochhermsdorf, also Holz-Hermsdorf or Hohn-Hermsdorf to distinguish it from other places with the same name.

Hermsdorf was incorporated into Aitzendorf in 1950 , but was reclassified to Zettlitz in 1965.
