Hernâni Faustino

Hernâni Faustino (* before 1977) is a Portuguese jazz and improvisation musician ( double bass ).

Live and act

Faustino began to play autodidactically as a bass guitarist in rock bands since 1979, u. a. with the formation K4 Quadrado Azul , with which he won the national competition of the Portuguese Youth Institute in 1988. In the following years he worked with the theater company O Olho and created live music for a play. In the 1990s he concentrated on the double bass and played in various improvisation bands, including a. until 2008 with the Variable Geometry Orchestra under the direction of Ernesto Rodrigues . He then founded the RED Trio with pianist Rodrigo Pinheiro and drummer Gabriel Ferrandini , whose debut album of the same name was released on Clean Feed Records .

In addition, Faustino worked since then a. a. with John Butcher , Nate Wooley , Carlos Zíngaro , Rodrigo Amado , Jon Irabagon , Manuel Mota , Neil Davidson , Mats Gustafsson , Chris Corsano , Rob Mazurek , Taylor Ho Bynum , Harris Eisenstadt , Blaise Siwula , Daniel Carter , Federico Ughi , Floros Floridis and Dennis González . In the field of jazz he was involved in 13 recording sessions between 2006 and 2002.
