Hesso (Baden-Hachberg)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hesso von Baden-Hachberg († 1410 ) was Margrave of Hachberg and Lord of Höhingen from 1386 to 1410 .

Life

Hesso was born as the son of Heinrich IV. And Anna von Üsenberg .

After the ruling margrave, his brother Otto I , died in the Battle of Sempach in 1386 , Hesso and his brother Johann took over the government.

1390 Hesso and his son are named as feudal men of Count Hans von Habsburg , who gives them Prechtal as a fief. In the event of his death without a biological heir, the fief should fall as property to Hesso and his descendants - this case occurs in 1408. The Fürstenberg family also made claims to the inheritance, which resulted in protracted disputes. Around 1409/1410 an arbitration award was presumably made, which granted both sides half the power, creating the Baden- Fürstenberg condominium Herrschaft Prechtal , which lasted until 1806.

In 1392 Hesso bought Werner von Hornberg's share of the Höhingen Castle, and he already owned the other part. He also bought Triberg Castle from Werner von Hornberg.

Marriage and offspring

Hesso married Agnes von Geroldseck and had three sons with her:

  • Heinrich (engaged to Margaretha Malterer / von Nellenburg in 1390 ; the marriage did not take place because Heinrich died before)
  • Hesso
  • Otto , last Margrave of Baden-Hachberg

In his second marriage, Hesso married Margaretha, the daughter of the Count Palatine of Tübingen , in 1381 and had a daughter with her:
