Hey Baby is a pop song by the American singer-songwriter Bruce Channel from his album of the same name. The track was released as a single in December 1961 and reached number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart in the United States. Better known in Europe and Australia gained the title by using the Dirty Dancing soundtrack , and later by the cover of Austrian pop singer DJ Ötzi , the song entitled Hey Baby (Uhh, Ahh) in 2000 coverte .
Original version
The song was written by Bruce Channel and Margaret Cobb and recorded in 1961. First the title appeared on the record label LeCam Records, a minor label from Texas . After the title experienced regional success, it was sold internationally by Smash Records , a division of Mercury Records , and reached the top position in the US singles charts in the week of March 10, 1962. Was-produced Co Hey! Baby of Major Bill Smith, the owner of LeCam Records. The recording contains compositional riffs by harmonica player Delbert McClinton and drummer Ray Torres . Bob Jones and Billy Sanders are represented as guitarists and Jim Rogers as bassist .
Adaptation
DJ Ötzi recorded a reinterpretation for his album Love, Peace & Vollgas and released its cover on July 31, 2000. The single reached number one placements in Australia, Ireland and the UK and reached the top 10 in Austria, Denmark , Sweden , Belgium and Norway . In Germany , the publication reached number 11 on the GfK Entertainment Charts and, with 56th place, was the lowest in the Netherlands . Ötzi's release received several gold and platinum awards and sold more than 1.1 million times.
