The Himalayan pinnate sparrow ( Sorbaria tomentosa ) is a species of pinnate sparrow ( Sorbaria ) within the rose family (Rosaceae). It is native to Asia .

description

The Himalayan pinnate sparrow is a deciduous shrub that reaches heights of up to 6 meters. The change-constant leaves are simply pinnate unpaarig, with seated, double sawed pinna flake , which in a young state by hand on the leaf veins are hairy fluffy.

The flowering period extends from June to August. The flowers stand together in up to 40 centimeters long paniculate inflorescences . The hermaphroditic flowers have a diameter of 5 to 7 millimeters and are radially symmetrical and five-fold with a double flower envelope . The five petals are creamy white.

Distribution and history as an ornamental plant

The Himalayan pinnate spar occurs naturally in the Himalayas , on the Indian subcontinent and in Central Asia. It is found in Tajikistan , in eastern Afghanistan , in Nepal , in northwestern India and in northern Pakistan.

It has been cultivated as an ornamental plant in England since the middle of the 19th century at the latest and can be found as such outside of Asia today . It was registered as a neophyte in Great Britain around 1970, in Belgium in 2000, and in northern Italy four years later; This species is also specified for the federal state of Vienna in the excursion flora for Austria, Liechtenstein and South Tyrol .

In their homeland, the Himalayan pinnate spar occurs at altitudes of up to 2900 meters.

Systematics

The first description was in 1840 under the name ( Basionym ) Schizonotus tomentosus by John Lindley in Botanical Register; consisting of colored ... , Volume 26, Misc., p. 71. The new combination to Sorbaria tomentosa (Lindl.) Rehder was published in 1938 by Alfred Rehder in Journal of the Arnold Arboretum , Volume 19, 1, p. 74.

The type Sorbaria tomentosa (Lindl.) Rehder there are at least two varieties:

  • Sorbaria tomentosa var. Angustifolia (. Wenz) Rahn (Syn .: Schizonotus aitchisonii . (Hemsl) Skeels , Sorbaria aitchisonii Hemsl. , Spiraea aitchisonii Hemsl. , Spiraea sorbifolia var. Angustifolia Wenz.) : It comes only in eastern Afghanistan and northern Pakistan in front.
  • Sorbaria tomentosa (Lindl.) Rehder var. Tomentosa (Syn .: Sorbaria lindleyana (Wall. Ex Lindl.) Maxim. , Spiraea lindleyana Wall. Ex Lindl. ): It occurs in the entire range of the species.
