This article contains all episodes of the sixteenth and final season of the German television series Hinter Gittern , sorted by first broadcast . They were from September 18, 2006 to February 13, 2007 on the German broadcaster RTLsent. Most recently, the sixteenth season of the prison saga ran with 18 episodes. Almost the entire cast was replaced; only a few actors from the original cast were still involved. With a shortened opening credits and a modified title music, Hinter Gittern ran on Mondays at 9:15 p.m. on RTL, and from December 4, 2006 from Monday to Tuesday weekly in the night program at 01:05 a.m. The last episode 403 was broadcast on February 13, 2007 on RTL. Due to the worsening audience ratings due to the many changes and the extremely poor nighttime slot, RTL discontinued the series after almost ten years.
