Location and surroundings

The Hochalpsee is located in the municipality of Mittelberg in the Austrian state of Vorarlberg . nature

The eastern edge of the lake is formed by a beak sedge ( Caricetum rostratae ) in a silting zone , which is made up of beak sedge . It contains the rare species of fever clover ( Menyanthes trifoliata ), whose location is considered to be relatively high here. To the south-east this turns into a Kleinseggenried , in which Scheuchzer's cotton grass is found. On the south shore grow marsh marigolds .

Access

The lake is on the hiking trail between the Hochalppass (1938 m) and the Widdersteinhütte (2009 m), from which the normal route to the Großer Widderstein branches off. The Hochalppass is reached from the Hochtannbergpass (1676 m) and from the village of Baad in the Kleinwalsertal .
