University radio in Norway
The college radio in Norway is predominantly via live stream received over the Internet. Stations with VHF broadcast frequencies usually share the frequency with other local radios (nærradiokanaler) and only broadcast part of their program via VHF . In addition to radio programs, some university radio stations also produce television programs and publish magazines.
The conditions for the establishment of student local radio stations were created on December 16, 1981, after NRK's monopoly on radio broadcasts in Norway was lifted.
A joint national playlist has been operated since 2004 , in which all major student channels participate. Since they are commercially independent, the radio stations can also play songs by lesser-known artists. The playlist is organized by the umbrella organization of the academic radio broadcasters in Norway, the Norwegian Academic Radio Council (Norsk akademisk radioråd) based in Trondheim .
