Hochsollingturm

The Hochsollingturm is a 33 m high observation tower in the Solling , a low mountain range in southern Lower Saxony ( Germany ), completed in 1992 . It is near Neuhaus in Solling in the Holzminden district .

It should not be confused with the Sollingturm near Uslar .

Location

The Hochsollingturm is located in the Hochsolling , the highest part of the Solling and in the Solling-Vogler Nature Park , around 0.7 km west-northwest of the summit of the Moosberg ( 513  m above sea  level ) and at around 475  m above sea level. It is located 1.5 km northeast of Neuhaus im Solling and 1.5 km south of Silberborn , both districts of Holzminden .

The tower can be  reached directly on foot within 10 minutes from the car park on Lower Saxony state road 549 between Silberborn and Neuhaus. On the way is the Hackelbergstein about 400 m east-southeast of the tower .

The Hochsollingturm, which was built from wood from 1991 to 1992 on behalf of the city of Holzminden, is 33 m high. It is freely accessible. After climbing the 180 steps to the top viewing platform, you have a good view in almost all directions: From there you can look north to the Weser Mountains . To the east the view is blocked by the summit of the Moosberg, to the south you can see the Reinhards- and Bramwald forests . To the west you can see the Eggegebirge , on which the Hermannsdenkmal can be seen, and to the northwest you can see the very close Köterberg .
