The Hochwurzen ( 1850 m above sea level ) is a mountain on the northern edge of the Schladminger Tauern above the Ennstal .
The mountain is part of the Schladming -Dachstein-Tauern ski area , making it part of the Amadé ski network and the Schladming-Dachstein holiday region . The Hochwurzenhütte Alpine Club House , formerly owned by the Schladming Section of the Austrian Alpine Club, stands on the summit .
The Hochwurzen mountain run has been held annually on the Hochwurzen since 1999 .
Winter sports
On the Hochwurzen there are ski slopes of all levels of difficulty, ski schools, several ski huts and a 7 km long natural toboggan run, which is one of the longest groomed toboggan runs in Austria.
accident
On January 22nd, 1984 there was a tragic accident during a charity ski race. The Austrian ski racer Josef "Sepp" Walcher from Schladming had a fatal accident.
