Holger Thuss

Holger Thuß (born August 12, 1969 in Jena ) is a German lobbyist and publisher. He is the president and founder of the European Institute for Climate & Energy e. V. (EIKE) and publisher of TvR Medienverlag . Both organizations are part of the institutional embedding of German climate skepticism .

From 1995 to 1996, Thuss was the deputy federal chairman of the Ring of Christian Democratic Students , and he was also active as a CDU politician in local politics. His dissertation at the Friedrich Schiller University Jena Freedom and Order. The constitutional party in the Thuringian states from 1848 to 1850 deals with the "rise of the parliamentary center-right formations" and appeared in 2005.

In 2004, Thuss founded the European branch of the American lobby organization CFACT , which was also financed by the latter, but has since been dissolved, according to Thuss. In 2007 he then founded EIKE; According to Thuss, the idea for this came from CFACT. He is also listed as an "expert" by the Heartland Institute , a climate denial organization financed by the fossil fuel industry , to which EIKE has financial links and which holds joint conferences with EIKE.

In the run-up to an EIKE 2018 conference, Thuss physically attacked reporter Achim Pollmeier from the TV magazine Monitor of ARD in front of the camera and attacked him verbally: Pollmeier was not a journalist , but an agitator . In 2019, at an EIKE conference in Munich, he declared that the climate protests had meanwhile reached " terrorist proportions".
