The Holm class is a series of six multi-purpose boats that has been in service with the Royal Danish Navy since 2006 . The boats are stationed in Frederikshavn and are used as survey boats , school boats and anti-mine drones.

General

Construction of the Standardfartøj MK I boats began in November 2004 at the Danish Yachts shipyard in Skagen under the supervision of Det Norske Veritas . The hulls and superstructures are made of glass fiber reinforced plastic . The boats are powered by two Scania - diesel powered DC series 16 and reach a speed of eleven knots . The range is given as 1000 nautical miles .

Survey boat Birkholm

The equipment for the respective task area is carried in a StanFlex container on the aft deck. The regular crew consists of three people and can be increased to nine people. When used as anti-mine drones, the boats are unmanned and driven by radio remote control . The Holm class is not armed.

The Birkholm and Fyrholm used as survey boats differ from their sister ships by an orange-red hull and cream-colored superstructure. In addition, they are equipped with a swiveling rear boom and a fan-shaped echo sounder.
