The Holzbach is a 2.6 km long, southern and orographically left tributary of the Wied bei Winkelbach in the Rhineland-Palatinate Westerwaldkreis .

course

The Holzbach rises in the middle Westerwald . Its source is in the Höchstenbacher Forest about 1.2 km south of Höchstenbach at an altitude of 344  m above sea level. NHN . It flows between Welkenbach in the west and Höchstenbach in the east - primarily in northern directions. Finally, the brook flows east of Winkelbach at an altitude of 269  m into the Rhine tributary, Wied , flowing there from the southeast .

Bed slope and catchment area

On its 2.6 km long path, the Holzbach overcomes a height difference of around 75 m, which corresponds to a mean bed gradient of 28.8 ‰. It drains a 4.123 km² catchment area through the Wied and the Rhine to the North Sea .
