The Holzberg is 561.8 m above sea level. NHN high, partly wooded elevation of Höhenzugs Hahnenkamm in the highlands Franconian Jura in the Middle Franconian district of Weissenburg-Gunzenhausen ( Bavaria ).

location
The Holzberg is located in the Altmühltal Nature Park, northwest of Windischhausen and southwest of Falbenthal and northeast of Auernheim , three districts of Treuchtlingen . The Rohrach (Eastern Rohrach) flows past to the south ; State road St 2218 ( Fuchsmühle –Windischhausen) runs parallel to it and, in the east, the district road WUG 5 (Windischhausen – Falbenthal).
Natural allocation
The Holzberg belongs to the natural spatial main unit group Franconian Alb (No. 08), in the main unit Southern Franconian Alb ( 082) and in the sub-unit Altmühlalb (082.2) to the natural area Hahnenkammalb (082.20).
Protected areas
Parts of the nature reserve protection zone in the Altmühltal nature park ( CDDA no. 396115; designated 1995; 1632.9606 km² in size) and the fauna-flora-habitat area Trauf of the southern Franconian Alb (FFH no. 6833-371; 43 , 2442 km²).
