Homer is a town (ship) in New York State in Cortland ( Cortland County ). The name comes from the Greek poet Homer . The city was founded in 1791 by Joseph and Rhoda Beede and Rhoda's brother Amos Todd.
There is also a village called Homer within the Town of Homer .
