Leandro Honorato Gláuber Berti , called Gláuber , (born August 5, 1983 in São José do Rio Preto ) is a former Brazilian soccer player . He played a total of 125 games in the Brazilian Série A , the German Bundesliga , the English Premier League , the Romanian League 1 and the US Major League Soccer . In 2007 he won the DFB Cup with 1. FC Nürnberg .

Career

The 1.88 m tall defender has played for the Brazilian club SE Palmeiras from São Paulo since his youth . On August 16, 2003 he made his debut in the first division team of Palmeiras. In the meantime, he also played for Atletico Mineiro before in January 2006 initially Palmeiras on loan for a fee of 180,000 EUR to the end of the season 2005/06 in the Bundesliga for 1. FC Nuremberg changed, although the club officials not quite were aware of the real capabilities. Manager Martin Bader therefore also called it a “surprise bag”. In the second half of the season, however, he soon replaced the injured Andreas Wolf and represented him convincingly. For a fee of 500,000 euros, Gláuber moved permanently to the club from 2006 and got a three-year contract until 2009. On May 2, 2007, 1. FC Nürnberg announced that this contract was extended to June 30, 2011 ahead of schedule.

In the 2006/07 season he was a regular from the start, but fell out towards the end of the first half of the season and only returned to the team towards the end of the season. Nevertheless, he played a major role in the successful season of Nuremberg, which ended with winning the DFB Cup . The start of the following season, however, went wrong with the entire team and Gláuber also got a break, after which he was regularly in the team again. At the end of the season in the relegation battle, however, the coach von Heesen relied on a different line-up. At the end of the season, 1. FC Nürnberg was relegated to the 2. Bundesliga. As a result, 1. FC Nürnberg decided not to take a unilateral option in the event of relegation. The contract with Gláuber ended with the Bundesliga relegation.

At the end of August 2008 Gláuber signed a one-year contract with the English club Manchester City . There he was often on the bench, only coming on the last day of a short game when he came on for Vincent Kompany in the 86th minute of the home game against Bolton Wanderers .

After the season Gláuber was without a club for half a year before he was signed by the Brazilian second division club AD São Caetano in early 2010 .

For the 2010/11 season Gláuber moved to Rapid Bucharest on a free transfer .

In January 2013 Gláuber moved to Columbus Crew in Major League Soccer . There he ended his active career in 2013.

The 16-time U-20 international came on April 27, 2005 for his only appearance for the Brazilian national soccer team . In the 3-0 friendly game against Guatemala, he was substituted on in the 81st minute.
