Hoover is an American city in Jefferson and Shelby Counties , Alabama , in the United States . In 2010, Hoover had 81,619 residents.

Hoover's geographic coordinates are 33 ° 23 '  N , 86 ° 48'  W (33.386435, -86.804938). Hoover is on the upper reaches of the Cahaba River .

history

It was registered as a city in 1967. Until the 1980s, the city was predominantly characterized by residential areas. This changed with the construction of Interstate -Highway I-459 , which Birmingham bypasses south and southeast, and a direct connection from I-20 / I-59 west and east of Birmingham to the south leading -I 65 produced.
