Horst Geipel

Horst Geipel (born November 8, 1923 in Berlin ; † December 24, 1997 ) was a German politician ( CDU ) and former member of the Hessian state parliament .

Life

Horst Geipel studied to become a teacher after graduating from secondary school and was a teacher for English and political education as well as headmaster. He was admitted to the NSDAP on September 1, 1941 at the age of 17 ( membership number 8,706,938). As a member of the 10th SS Panzer Division "Frundsberg" , he reached the officer rank of SS-Untersturmführer and, as a member of the SS Grenadier Replacement Battalion "Ost" ( Shitomir ) from March 15 to June 17, 1943, took part in the " Fight against partisans ”in the Pripjet swamp .

After the end of the war, Geipel became a member of the CDU and was active in various board positions. Among other things, he was district chairman of the CDU in the Friedberg and Wetterau districts from 1969 to 1982 and a member of the state executive committee from 1970 to 1971. Horst Geipel was a city councilor in Friedberg and a member of the district council, where he led the CDU parliamentary group from 1977 to 1985.

From December 1, 1974 to November 30, 1982 he was a member of the Hessian state parliament. In 1979 Geipel was a member of the 7th Federal Assembly .

In 1983 he was awarded the Cross of Merit 1st Class of the Federal Republic of Germany.
