Horst Hehle
Horst Hehle (born September 30, 1923 in Heringsdorf ; † March 19, 2005 in Cologne ) was a German painter who primarily dealt with glass painting and mobile glass pictures.
Life
Horst Hähle, whose father and grandfather ran a glass painting workshop, completed a glass painter apprenticeship in Swinoujscie from 1938 to 1940 . In 1941 he began studying at the works school in Stettin , which he had to break off the following year because he was called up for military service. He became a prisoner of war. In 1947 he founded a gallery and art shop in Bansin . After he had passed the master craftsman's examination in 1948, he fled the Soviet occupation zone in autumn of the same year and moved to Cologne .
In 1951 and 1952 he was studying in Luxembourg , where he studied the works of French and Belgian artists. From 1953 he headed the workshops for glass painting (art in the church) in Düsseldorf , from 1962 to 1971 in Wiesbaden . He then moved to Cologne, where he worked in a leading position for glassworks. From 1984 he worked exclusively as a freelance artist in Cologne.
Horst Hähle initially saw himself as an executive link in the work group with visual artists and architects, but in the course of the collaboration with Hugo Kükelhaus as well as Ewald Mataré and Rudolf Schwarz from the Art Academy in Düsseldorf , Johannes Schreiter from the State University of Fine Arts in Frankfurt on Main as well as with Georg Meistermann , Ludwig Schaffrath and other artists more and more to independent work. From 1964 he dealt with the autonomous glass picture, not tied to the architecture. He set new accents in this art form, which he himself described as a mobile glass picture . In addition to glass pictures, Horst Hähle created linoleum and zinc cuts. He showed his works at more than 200 exhibitions at home and abroad.
