Horst Philipp Schneider

Horst Philipp Schneider (born October 17, 1962 in Unkel ) is a German classical philologist and Byzantinist .

Life

After high school in 1982 in Bad Honnef he studied from 1982 to 1990 Classics and Ancient History at the University of Bonn , where he in 1990 the first state examination took off in Classical Philology. From 1992 to 1993 he was a doctoral scholarship holder of the NRW Graduate Fund at the University of Bonn . From 1993 to 1998 he was a research assistant in the Fontes Christiani editorial team at the Ruhr University in Bochum . After completing his doctorate in 1995 at the University of Bonn, he was a postdoctoral fellow from 1998 to 2002 at the Görres Society in conjunction with the Fontes Christiani editorial team . The Margot and Friedrich Becke Foundation in Heidelberg awarded him a scholarship in 2002 in connection with the "History of Diamonds" project. From 2002 to 2006 he was a research assistant in the Fontes Christiani editorial team at the Ruhr University in Bochum. After completing his habilitation in Modern Greek and Byzantine Philology in Bochum in 2004, he represented the chair of the professorship for Byzantine Studies at the Free University of Berlin from 2006 to 2007 . From 2007 to 2009 he was a research assistant in the Fontes Christiani editorial team at the Ruhr University in Bochum, and since 2010 he has been working in this position at the LMU Munich. The Fontes Christiani Institute is located in the Ducal Georgianum in Munich. After substituting the professorship for Byzantine Studies at LMU Munich in 2011 , he was rehabilitated there in 2013 .
