Horst Sauerbruch

Horst Sauerbruch (* 1941 ) is a German painter and emeritus professors . He lives and works in Munich .

Life

Sauerbruch was born in Rome as the son of the artist Hans Sauerbruch and grandson of the surgeon Ferdinand Sauerbruch ; the architect Matthias Sauerbruch is his younger brother. Sauerbruch studied from 1963 to 1967 with Anton Marxmüller and Hermann Kaspar at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich . From 1969 to 1971 he was an assistant there. From 1972 to 2006 he held the newly established professorship for art education.

Together with Thomas Zacharias and Rudi Seitz , he shaped the training of high school art teachers at the Munich Academy of Fine Arts. His students included Stephan Huber , Werner Maier , Albert Hien , Martin Gensbaur and Gerhard Schebler.

He shows his work a. a. in the gallery Karl & Faber in Munich and illustrates books by his friend Reiner Kunze .
