Martin Gensbaur

Martin Gensbaur (* 1958 in Munich ) is a German painter , art and museum educator , art lecturer and author . He lives and works in Dießen am Ammersee , Urfeld am Walchensee and Scarlino in Italy .

Live and act

From 1977 to 1983 Gensbaur studied painting and graphics with Horst Sauerbruch , Rudi Tröger and Franz Bernhard Weißhaar at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich . He completed his studies with the first and second state exams as well as with a diploma . During this time, Gensbaur was also involved in the restoration work in the parish church of St. Peter and Paul in Oberstaufen and had study visits to the universities of Perugia and Innsbruck and the Florence Art History Institute . Since 1982, he taught as an art teacher at various public and private schools and had from 1990 to 1996 a lecturer of art history at the University of Eichstaett / Department Munich. Since 1997, Gensbaur has been training high school art teachers in Munich as the head of a specialist seminar. From 2003 to 2005 he was in charge of the school @ museum pilot project , and is the initiator and collaborator of numerous other art educational projects and websites. Together with his wife, the art historian Ulrike Gensbaur, he runs an exhibition platform for contemporary painting and photography in Dießen am Ammersee, has published the series Das Kunstfenster since 2014 and gives public lectures on questions of contemporary art. In addition, he deals with art education in the Weimar Republic and the time of National Socialism and numerous other art education topics.
