Rudolf Seitz (art teacher)

Rudolf Seitz (born November 26, 1934 in Munich ; † April 26, 2001 there ) was an art teacher from Bavaria .

Life

After graduating from high school in 1954, Seitz studied painting , graphics , ceramics and teaching as well as philosophy , education , theology and psychology at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich at the Academy of Fine Arts . In 1958 he passed the first and in 1960 the second state examination for teaching art education at grammar schools and then worked as a grammar school teacher for art education in Munich until 1966. From 1966 to 1974 he was a lecturer at the Pedagogical University, and later at the Ludwig Maximilians University. From 1974 to 1996 he held the professorship for art education and art maintenance at the latter, and during this period from 1982 to 1988 he was also president of the Academy of Fine Arts.

Seitz conducted long-term research studies in the field of visual and aesthetic elementary education and founded the School of Fantasy . He published numerous books on the subject of aesthetic elementary education.

In 1997 the Munich tower writers awarded him the Bavarian Poet Thaler .

Until his death, Rudolf Seitz lived in the house at Rembrandtstrasse 4 in Munich, where the Rudi Seitz archive is now located.
