Horst Waldemar Beck

Horst Waldemar Beck (born September 1, 1933 in Stuttgart ; † May 28, 2014 in Röt (Baiersbronn) ) was a German engineer, Protestant theologian , philosopher and author.

Life

Beck studied engineering / transport science , philosophy / theology and astronomy / cosmology and received his doctorate in engineering at the University of Stuttgart in 1964 and in theology at the University of Basel in 1973 with a habilitation for border issues between theology and natural science .

He taught at the Pastoralkolleg Freudenstadt, the Universities of Basel , Hohenheim (Stuttgart) , Karlsruhe , the Evangelical Theological Faculteit ( Belgium ) and at the Gustav Siewerth Academy . He gave guest lectures a. a. at universities in Korea, Kazakhstan , Kyrgyzstan , Canada , China . In 1999 he became professor hc of Yanbian University of Science and Technology .

In 1974 he founded the Karl-Heim-Gesellschaft based in Freudenstadt. Beck was married to Christa Beck-Rudert. The couple had six children and lived in Röt (Baiersbronn) in the Black Forest .
