Hoarding HX

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Horten HX was a single-seater flying wing designed by the Horten brothers .

The aircraft was designed on the basis of the hunter emergency program for a "people's hunter". The aircraft should be a cantilever flying wing with a retractable tricycle undercarriage. The HX was supposed to be driven by a Heinkel HeS 011 jet turbine. Only a scaled-down model was produced to determine the center of gravity. A test variant as a glider and a variant powered by a 240 hp Argus As 10 C were planned , but these were no longer manufactured due to the end of the war. The construction of the HX was scheduled for 1946.

In 1954 the name HX was used again. This time for a number of wheelless hang gliders .
