Houma is a city in the swamps of the southern state of Louisiana , USA . The population was 34,024 in 2016. The city is pronounced " home'ah " in English . The city is located in Terrebonne Parish , which counts as a county in Louisiana . Because of its location in the swamps of Louisiana, the city was also the scene of productions such as the cinema film "The Skeleton Key - The Skeleton Key ".
