Housni al-Barazi ( Arabic حسني البرازي; * 1895 in Hama , Ottoman Empire ; † 1975 in Turkey ) was a Syrian nationalist politician who served as Prime Minister of Syria .

Housni al-Barazi was born in the city of Hama to a well-known land-owning family of Kurdish origin . He received his education in Constantinople and received a doctorate from the Sorbonne .

During the French rule , he was a member of parliament in Syria from 1928, and minister of education from 1934 to 1936. From 1936 to 1938 he was the last governor of Alexandrette before it became independent as Hatay State . In April 1942 he was appointed Prime Minister of the Syrian Republic , but he was removed from office by the French authorities in January 1943 and fled to Lebanon .
