Mohammed Ali al-Halabi

Mohammed Ali al-Halabi ( Arabic محمد علي الحلبي, DMG Muḥammad ʿAlī al-Ḥalabī ; * 1937 in Damascus ) is a former Syrian diplomat and politician.

Life

Mohammed Ali al-Halabi is married to Lamis Halabi and is a member of the Ba'ath Party . In 1955 he was employed as a teacher in the Golan and from 1959 to 1964 he was employed as a teacher in Kuwait ; from June 9, 1973 to March 27, 1978 he was chairman and speaker of the People's Council .

From March 27, 1978 to January 9, 1980 he was Prime Minister.

In 1980 Hafiz al-Assad and Leonid Ilyich Brezhnev concluded a friendship and cooperation agreement; During the tenure of Mohammed Ali al-Halabials as ambassador to Moscow from 1982 to 1990, the Soviet Union installed a defense system for Syrian airspace in al-Dumayr and Shinshar with S-75 .
