How Far I'll Go is a song by Lin-Manuel Miranda (music and lyrics) that the musician composed for the computer animation film Vaiana (original title Moana ) by Ron Clements and John Musker from 2016. In the film, the song is sung by Auli'i Cravalho and later by Alessia Cara .

At the 2017 Academy Awards , Miranda received a nomination for the song in the Best Song category .

The song was composed and texted by the American musician Lin-Manuel Miranda for the computer animation film Vaiana - Das Paradies hat ein Haken (original title Moana ) by Ron Clements and John Musker in 2016. In the film the song is sung by Auli'i Cravalho and later by Alessia Cara in the credits . The song was released on the Moana Original Motion Picture Soundtrack . The song is also included in the version sung by Alessia Cara on the Vaiana - German Original Film Soundtrack , and there is also a German version of the song entitled I am ready , sung by Debby van Dooren (in the credits by Helene Fischer ), contain.

Glenn Whipp from the Los Angeles Times recognized the song How Far I'll Go early on as a promising candidate for best song at the 2017 Academy Awards . In December 2016, the song was included in the list of candidates for the Academy Awards (longlist) in this category, from which the members of the Academy selected the official nominations. On January 24, 2017, there was an official nomination for How Far I'll Go and thus also by Lin-Manuel Miranda . Auli'i Cravalho will sing the song live during the award ceremony .

In a version sung by Auli'i Cravalho , How Far I'll Go entered the iTunes Soundtrack Top 100 at number 1. How Far I'll Go also topped the iTunes download charts on Thanksgiving weekend in 2016 when the film hit US cinemas. In the version sung by Cravalho, How Far I'll Go entered the Billboard Top 100 at number 52 in early December 2016 and in the version sung by Alessia Cara at number 88 . How Far I'll Go entered the Singles Chart Top 100 in the United Kingdom on January 13, 2017.

Other versions

On March 1, 2017, Japanese singer Miliyah Katō released the song Dokomademo: How Far I'll Go ( ど こ ま で も ~ How Far I'll Go ~) as part of her single of the same name, which was used for the Japanese version of the film.
