Hua Jianmin ( Chinese  華建敏  /  华建敏 , Pinyin Huá Jiànmǐn ; born January 17, 1940 in Wuxi , Jiangsu ) is a Chinese politician of the Communist Party of China (CCP) who served as Secretary General of the State Council between 2003 and 2008 , from 2008 to In 2013 he was Vice-Chairman and General Secretary of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress and, between 2009 and 2015, President of the Red Cross Society of China .

Life

Hua Jianmin, a member of the Han , began studying in the gas turbine program of the Dynamics Department of Tsinghua University after attending Wuxi No.1 secondary school in 1957 , which he graduated in 1963. He joined the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) while studying in 1961, and between 1963 and 1969 was a technician and deputy secretary of the Works Party Committee of the Shanghai Gas Turbine Boiler Research Institute . After graduating from the Central Party College of the Communist Party of China between 1984 and 1986 , he served in the General Section of the CCP Central Committee (Central Committee ) from 1986 to 1987 . He was deputy director of the Shanghai Planning Committee from 1991 to 1992 and then from 1992 to 1993 both deputy executive director of that committee and deputy secretary of the Party Committee of the Shanghai Planning Committee. He then acted from 1993 to 1994 in personal union as executive director and secretary of the party committee of the planning committee of Shanghai.

Between 1994 and 1996, Hua was Vice Mayor of Shanghai and was also a member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee. He then acted from 1996 to 1998 as deputy head of the Central Committee's finance department, whose head he was from 1998 to 2003. He was then vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress between 2008 and 2013 . On October 28, 2009, he replaced Peng Peiyun as President of the Red Cross Society of China and remained in this position until 2015, after which he was replaced by Chen Zhu .
