Huancabamba is the capital of the Huancabamba Province in the Piura region of northern Peru . It is the administrative seat of the district of the same name . The city had 7031 inhabitants in 2017. 10 years earlier the population was 6,852.

Geographical location

The city of Huancabamba is located in the Peruvian Western Cordillera at an altitude of 1929  m . The upper reaches of the Río Huancabamba passes the city in a southerly direction. The regional capital Piura is 130 km west of Huancabamba. The state border with Ecuador is 37 km away.
