The Hubersee is a natural monument and is geographically in the west of the Raubling community on the border with the Bad Feilnbach community in the Rosenheim district in Upper Bavaria .

description

It is located in a vast raised bog area that extends in the south-west of the Rosenheim district from the Inntal motorway to the Bad Feilnbach-Kreuzstraße- Bad Aibling road and borders southward on the cultivated land of Großholzhausen (Raubling municipality) and Bad Feilnbach, as well continues northward in the Aising-Pang area.

This area is rich in low and high moors , which are also known by name such as Hochrunst-Filze, Koller Filze, Abgebrannte Filz, Rote Filze, Steinbeis-Filze, Tännel-Holz, Rohret Filze and the Dettendorfer Moos .

The area in which the Hubersee is located is called Sterntal-Filze . This is a small bog complex in the so-called Moor composite Rosenheimer Stammbeckenmoore , which is still partially semi-natural state, on the contrary to Koller felts or Hochrunst felts , the human by drainage measures , peat , and forestry were greatly changed.

300 years ago, the Hubersee had a water surface of a few square kilometers. Due to the gradual siltation , it has shrunk to an open water surface of barely one hectare. The old lake area is now a wetland area, which is specifically referred to as the Schlenke . Schlenken are parts of Niedermoren and Filzen. Conceptually, a gully is to be understood as a continuously water-filled depression with flooding vegetation, in or between which the peat moss dome (bulte) rising above the water level are located. The habitat type usually occurs in small areas and is closely interlinked with other habitat types. In addition to the peat moss, a typical plant species is the white beaked rush. B. also sundew species. The high-moor mosaic maiden, for example, is a type of dragonfly whose larvae typically develop in gullies.

Due to the many rare and specific plant and animal species, the Hubersee and the other gullies in this high moor area have been declared natural monuments by the Bavarian State Office for Environmental Protection.
