Hubert Barclay Eaves III (* in St. Paul , Minnesota ) is an American soul, fusion, jazz and funk musician ( piano , e-piano , keyboard ), arranger , songwriter and music producer .

Hubert Eaves III had piano lessons from his father. The first recordings were made around 1970 in Minneapolis with Bobby Jackson; in the 1970s he played a. a. with Tyrone Washington , Gary Bartz , Norman Connors , John Lee / Gerry Brown , Prince Lasha , Carlos Garnett , Reggie Lucas , Pharoah Sanders , Dick Griffin and Chris Hinze . In 1976 he recorded his debut album Esoteric Funk (Inner City), on which u. a. Malachi Thompson , James Stowe , René McLean , Mtume and vocalist Cheryl Alexander performed. In the field of jazz he was involved in 46 recording sessions between 1970 and 2011. In later years he worked mainly as a musician, songwriter and producer of soul and disco music. a. in a duo with James "D-Train" Williams, also for Will Downing and The Prodigy . In the early 1980s he had a top 10 chart success with the song You're the One for Me . During his career he worked a. a. also for Roberta Flack , Miles Davis ( You're Under Arrest and Decoy ), Stephanie Mills , Madonna , Luther Vandross ( I'm Your Baby Tonight 1990), Whitney Houston , Aretha Franklin , Phyllis Hyman , The Spinners and The Notorious BIG
