Hubert Speckner

Hubert Speckner (born March 15, 1958 in Melk ) is an Austrian civil servant with the official title of Hofrat of the Federal Ministry for National Defense (BMLV), historian and officer ( Colonel dhmfD ) of the militia .

Life

Speckner comes from Lower Austria . From 1978 to 1990 he worked in school in Vorarlberg . In 1980 he did military service in the Austrian Armed Forces . From 1985 to 1991 he studied history and German at the University of Innsbruck . In the 1990s he was used in the Landwehr Trunk Regiment 91, in the Jägerregiment 9 and in the Vorarlberg military command . In 1995 he completed a doctoral degree ( Dr. phil. ) At the universities of Innsbruck, Graz and Vienna with Gerhard Jagschitz and Stefan Karner on the subjectThe prisoner-of-war camps of the German Wehrmacht in the 'Ostmark' from 1939 to 1945 .

In 2000 he became head of department and in 2004 deputy head of department in the Military History Research Department of the Military History Museum in Vienna. Furthermore, in 2001 he became a guest teacher at the Theresian Military Academy and the National Defense Academy . In 2009 he became the main teaching officer at the Institute for Human and Social Sciences at the National Defense Academy. He holds the militia rank of a colonel of the higher military professional service.

Speckner is married and has one daughter.
