Hubertus Schwartz

Hubertus Schwartz (born July 5, 1883 in Soest ; † November 7, 1966 there ) was a German administrative lawyer. He was senator of the Free City of Danzig as well as district administrator and mayor in Soest.

Life

Schwartz studied law at the Eberhard Karls University . In 1903 he became active in the Corps Borussia Tübingen . After the conquest of Warsaw in August 1915, he became an employee of the city's German civil administration. From 1917 to 1920 he was a city councilor in Gdansk . After the formation of the Free City of Danzig in 1920, he was elected full-time Senator for Communal Affairs in Senate Sahm I on December 6, 1920 . He was re-elected on December 10, 1924. With the new Senate election after the People's Day election in Gdansk in 1927 , he left the Senate on December 18, 1928. In June 1934 he was elected a full member of the Historical Commission for Westphalia . In 1963 he also became an honorary member of the commission. Schwartz was a member of the CDU . From January 29, 1946 to October 29, 1948 he was District Administrator of the Soest District and from 1948 to 1953 Mayor of Soest. He made a contribution to the reconstruction of the old town, which was about 60% destroyed in the war.
