Huchenfeld, which means something like "high field" , was first mentioned in 1140. Around 1150 the Counts of Calw cleared the plateau between Nagold and Würm and founded a Waldhufensiedlung . The Lords of Kräheneck (north-northwest of Huchenfeld, in the forest, now a restaurant) work as servants or feudal bearers of the Counts of Calw.

In 1263 Berthold and Belreimus von Weißenstein handed the village over to seven knights from Fürsteneck Castle . Huchenfeld probably consists of at least eleven family farms that pay their dues to eight feudal lords. At the end of the 13th century, Huchenfeld came to Rudolf von Rosswag and fell back to the Margraves of Baden in 1312 . In 1338 Huchenfeld was transferred to the ore monastery of Mainz .

In 1426 the knight Dietrich VII of Gemmingen was taken prisoner and bought himself free with several villages (including Huchenfeld?). In 1449 Margrave Jakob I transferred the village of Huchenfeld to the knight Dietrich VII of Gemmingen for 900 guilders. In 1464 Margrave Karl I gave Huchenfeld to Hesso von Kaltenthal as a man fief . In 1472 the Huchenfeld fiefdom passed to the Upper Swabian knight family of the nobles of Ehingen .

Around 1584 the Obervogt von Liebenzell (cf. Bad Liebenzell ), Martin von Remchingen , acquired the Weißenstein fief. From the middle of the 17th century, the fiefdom with the village of Huchenfeld remained with the Baden margraves. From 1907 to 1918 Grand Duke Friedrich II was the last regent of Baden.

After the First World War, Huchenfeld was a working class community until the 1950s; However, since then it has recorded a steady and rapid upward trend. Furthermore, it was incorporated into the city of Pforzheim as part of the municipal reform on January 1, 1975. Until the Second World War , Huchenfeld was almost entirely Protestant and had just under 1,600 inhabitants.

Surroundings

Neighboring places of Huchenfeld are Würm and Hohenwart , indirectly also Dillweißstein . All three now belong to the independent city of Pforzheim.

The existence of an old mine shaft in a north-westerly direction is purely speculative. However, no remains could be found that explicitly suggest ore mining, such as an overburden dump, etc.

In the 1940s there was a military airfield east of the town center in the direction of Würm . The straight fields with concrete slabs can still be seen today. According to eyewitness reports, 16 to 20 aircraft (presumably Messerschmitt Bf 109 ) were stationed here, which could not intervene in the major attack on Pforzheim due to a lack of fuel.

Economy / infrastructure

Huchenfeld has had a steadily growing industrial and commercial area since the 1950s, with the craft always keeping tradition.

The place can be reached directly from Pforzheim by bus in 11 to 14 minutes, with a detour via Würm it takes 20 to 23 minutes.
