Hugh O'Conor (born April 19, 1975 in Dublin ) is an Irish actor .

Life

O'Conor was trained as the son of a concert pianist at Trinity College , Dublin. O'Conor began acting at the age of eight and made his first major appearance in 1986, starring Liam Neeson in the drama Lamb . In the film he plays a boy suffering from epilepsy . Two years later he starred in the fantasy film Da alongside Martin Sheen .

His final breakthrough was O'Conor in 1989 under the direction of Jim Sheridan in the Oscar -nominated drama My Left Foot alongside Daniel Day-Lewis . O'Conor received for his role in a nomination for the Young Artist Award as Best Supporting Actor .

In 1993 he took on a supporting role as the young French king in the blockbuster The Three Musketeers . Two years later he got his first leading role in the black comedy The Handbook of the Young Poison Mixer , followed by the love film Chocolat - A Small Bite Enough by director Lasse Hallström in 2000. For his supporting role, he was selected as a member of the cast in the category Best Ensemble nominated for a Screen Actors Guild Award .
