Hugo Bishop

Hugo Bishop (* 4. October 1892 in Hamburg , † 11 October 1971 in Rostock ) was a German politician of the KPD .

Bishop was born into a working class family. He worked as a metal worker in Hamburg and Hanover . In 1912 he joined the trade union and the SPD . He took part in the First World War as a soldier, but was released in 1916 because of a serious wound. In 1918 he became a member of the USPD in Elmshorn . In November 1918 he was a member of the Workers 'and Soldiers' Council and at the end of 1920 he was KPD chairman there. Bishop was elected to the Central Committee as a substitute member for the Wasserkante District at the 8th Party Congress of the KPD in 1923, and in March 1923 he joined the district leadership in Thuringia , where he became the organ secretary. He was imprisoned from November 1923 to January 1924 and was then expelled from Thuringia. The headquarters first sent him as party secretary to Hagen / Westphalia and after the dissolution of the Hagen party district as organ secretary to Siegen . At the end of 1924 he returned to Elmshorn. From 1927 to 1929 he was a member of the district council in Pinneberg .

In 1929 Bishop was expelled from the KPD and joined the KPO . From June to September 1933 he was imprisoned in concentration camps. After his release he worked as a payroll clerk at the German shipyard .

After the Second World War, Bischof worked as party secretary of the KPD in Pinneberg and was a member of BL Wasserkante. From 1946 to 1947 he was a member of the state parliament in Schleswig-Holstein . From April 11 to November 11, 1946 he was the second vice president of the state parliament. Until 1950 he was a member of the KPD regional leadership in Waterkante, responsible for agriculture. He retired for health reasons. In 1968 he moved to the GDR .
